Re: Lux

The bad: It makes me think of deluxe and luxury and lucks, and other not-very-appealing rhyming words such as sucks and flux (diarrhea) and mukluks and [expletive], and of Lux Interior (the humorous self-chosen name of the male lead singer of the Cramps). I think it seems celebby (trying to be cool and "different") and really ... it's pretty awful all around. The only redeeming value is the meaning, and even that is made too pedestrian to me, because of "lux" being a unit of measure for light. I wouldn't want to be named it, and I would eyeroll if I met a child named it (gah, celeb style names, I'd think).
The relatively good: if I met an adult named Lux who wasn't an entertainer, it would not seem that awful. It would just seem eccentric, and there are a lot of names I do like that are no less eccentric seeming. Cute? never. Decent? yeah.
