It's not that big of a deal but...
Can you explain why? This is a name that I don't see anything wrong with so if people hate it, I want a reason to be talked out of it. I don't want to give my future son a name that others dislike to that extreme. Is it just unappealing to you or is there something really awful that I'm missing out on?

Sure. It's extremely tacky and low-class. It seems modern and unique, but it's going to sound silly years from now, it's just another fad, and on a grown man, ugh, I can just imagine how hard it will be for people to take him seriously. Plus, the only Tripp I know of is Sarah Palin's kid, and I wouldn't want that association personally. It's not a name to me, it's a word. It's like naming a child Run, or Fall, or Walk, or Climb. I don't like the sound either, there are beautiful names out there, and then people go use Tripp? Overall, I don't like it one bit.
