Re: Some names from the South African World Cup team

As you can see, black South African parents go for inspiring names, whether they use English or an African language. The exception is Macbeth: his mother was a high school English teacher and named him after her favourite play. Surprise ... perhaps they thought he'd be a girl, or it took a while for the pregnancy to be diagnosed. Or they were just really glad to see him!
Siphiwe ( isiZulu) and Reneilwe (Sesotho) literally mean “we have been given a gift” and Kagisho is a Sesotho name for peaceful co-existence, conciliation. I checked that with my friend, who's a translator and former lecturer!
