I'm only in my second year of French, but I have noticed that it some words/names you actually do say it -EEL, such as in
Lucille. But when it comes to
Camille, the proper pronunciation is ka-MEE. I have no idea what makes the distinction. Maybe
Lucille is supposed to be loo-SEE, but it somehow became popular as loo-SEEL?
I don't think anyone will fault you for using -TEEL, although personally I prefer -TYEE. :)
