I much prefer Eve over Eva. While Eve is elegant in its simplicity, Eva sounds harsh and ugly. I classify Eve with Claire, Anne and those other one syllable classic names. I agree with you on Eve itself not being too popular, but could seem more popular due to all of the similar popular names like Eva, Evangeline, and Evelyn.

I have to disagree with you on Evie. I just love Evie, and prefer Eve or Genevieve as a full name for it over Eva, Evangeline or Evelyn. But since the full names for Evie are popular I understand why you are hesitant to embrace it. That's actually why I love Effie. It's similar to Evie, but a little more off-beat.
