Re: Eris
in reply to a message by BBH
If I am pronouncing Eris correctly, then it reminds me of the word "heiress." I love names from Greek mythology, as well as short names with prominent vowel sounds like Eris. But I'd keep it in the mn position. The heiress image is too great for me.

On pantheon.org they say Eris is pronounced ee-ris.

"EE-ris?" Oh. Thanks for the info.I don't like the sound of that at all. But I'll mull it over just to give it a fair chance. I love the sound of Emer, so perhaps "EE-ris" will grow on me.Has anyone else ever heard Eris pronounced as, "EE-ris?"

It probably is in English, but definitely not Greek, which would be pronounced eh-REES or EH-rees (I'm not sure where the stress falls in that one).
