Re: Sonya, Sveta, and Sasha
I like Sonya. I know a woman who named her dd Sonya and used Sunny as a nn which I think is cute. (That's kind of strange when I think about it now because Sonya is already a nn for Sophia. But I'm digressing.)Sonya / Sonia / Sonja is one of those overlooked treasures that deserves to be revived. I should prefer the "y" spelling from all the years of Russian I took and the transliteration rules. But I admit my Sony television pops into my head when I see Sonya. So I opt for Sonia, as in Ms Braga. Very alluring. Sonja is nice too, but wwould be difficult to live with outside of Scandinavia / Eastern Europe. (I'm in the U.S.)Sonia Valentine
Sonia Gabrielle
Sonia Vivien
Sonia Pascale
Sonia Margot
Sonia Victorine
Sonia Ruby
Sonia MirabelSasha is a male nn to me. I hate to see it used on dds.Sveta is nice, but I prefer Svetlana. Oh, to see a Svetlana or two here in the U.S. Gorgeous. (I actually prefer Svea to Sveta, but again Svea wouldn't be the easiest name to live with here. Maybe in Minneapolis, though?)Sveta Margit / Marguerite
Sveta Tamar
Sveta Manon
Sveta Lorelei
Sveta Melusine
Sveta Nyree
Sveta Thisbe
Sveta Martine
Sveta MarnieA very strong "m" vibe for me with Sveta. Actually, a lot of these mns for Sonia and Sveta are mix-n-match. Are there any you think you could like?
