but
"tailor" is also a word and it sounds exactly like Taylor. So yeah I know what a sailor is but I'd rather be a sailor than a tailor. Plus there are thousands of word names from Brooke over Robin to Faith and Stone.

Well, Taylor is more common than the spelling Tailor. With the spelling Tailor, it's a word, but Taylor isn't. Same with Sailor. I don't know why people choose one spelling over another, but I guess it's the ay people are.

uhm it sounds exactly the same so it doesn't really matter in my opinion.

I agree there are plenty of other names that aare things and I like them just fine. Just because you change the spelling arround it does not always mean the meaning has changed. It's still a thing.
