Dislike it.
I may be the only person on this board who doesn't like it, but I will stick firmly by my opinion.Phonetically, I don't like it because I pronounce it CARE-iss in my head, and I'm really sick of the sound Care involved in anything. Especially in names, and ESPECIALLY in female names. Car is like a tired version of Care to me, and it's almost worse. I don't like how it looks, especially the y in it. It looks incomplete and made up to me, even though I know it's completely legitimate. Umm the only other reason I can think of is a dumb one and I can't even begin to articulate it.I'm pretty unfamiliar with it I guess, I've only seen it on this board. I've always pronounced it CARE-iss (or KERR-iss, which in my accent is about the same.) Never -eez or even -ees.The stereotype it brings up to me is the same mother who names her child Coreigh instead of Cory or Corey because it's "the Irish spelling." This is completely unfair of course, since Carys is perfectly legitimate.Don't think anyone would make fun of it, any more than they'd make fun of any other name.
