Re: French and 50's names.
French:
Simone-- This is a fave of mine, it's pretty and classy and not overused.
Paulette-- I prefer Pauline, the -ette ending is not a sound I love.
Suzette-- See above
Suzanne-- I like this, but not as much as I like Susan.
Lisette-- See above.
Cosette-- See above.
Cecile- I like Cecilia, but Cecile looks and sounds masculine to me, even though I know it isn't.
Lucille-- I like this well enough, it's more refreshing than Lucy.
Therese-- Love, Love, Love! I think this makes a good mn.
Margaux-- I prefer Margot.
Laurentine-- This is okay, but I much prefer Lawrencia.
Marie-- This is ok, I prefer Maria.
Veronique-- Veronica I like, this, not so much.
Adeline-- This does nothing for me.
Sandrine-- I prefer Sandra.
Celestine--I like Celeste, the -ine on the end makes this too frilly for my tastes.
Delphine-- NMS
Elodie-- I like Melody, this seems incomplete.
Genevieve-- Pretty, but on the rise in popularity and I don't like it enough for the popularity not to bother me.
Justine--It's ok.1950's Names
Linda (LOVE THIS)-- This is still pretty bland to me.
Patricia-- I love it. It's on my short-short list.
Susan-- I like this a lot.
Barbara-- I know a little Barbara who's about 4, it's cute.
Donna-- I prefer Dawn.
Cynthia (Timeless)--I agree with you about Cynthia, but I don't like Cindy.
Pamela-- it's not a favorite.
Sharon-- I know so many in the middle-aged group that I can't associate it with a baby yet.
Joan-- I prefer Joanne and Joanna.
Martha-- I hate this name for some reason, it just doesn't sound pretty to me.
Bonnie--NMS
Sheila-- I like this, but I love Shelly.
Sally-- This pops into my head periodically, but I don't really care for it.
