I like Elissa is nice. I like Alissa too, but not Alyssa, which rubs me the wrong way for some reason. I'm not sure if you could say it honours a Melissa - I suppose if you see it that way, it does. I'm not into honouring so it's neither here nor there for me. I like Elissa in its own right.
