I've always liked Ginny -- years before I'd even heard of Harry Potter.
I grew up with a Ginny, short for Virginia. I thought it would have been a nice nn for Ginevra (ji-NEH-vra) as well.

Of course it would b terrific as a fn - as long as it's a nn for something.
I'd want the option of a more formal name if I were her and entering the work force/professional world. She doesn't have to use it, but it's nice that it's there just in case.
