Ugh, I'll send the poor kid a sympathy card.
Seriously. Maxine.

What's your problem? Peregrine makes a strong point, and I would really love to know what you think is objectively wrong with this name. It's totally fine to say, "Sorry, it's not to my tastes" but the child in question does not deserve "sympathy" just because... you have an opinion, I guess?
I think Maxine is an unusually ugly-sounding and looking name and I do feel sorry for any child saddled with it. I know perfectly well it has some history and it's a feminine form of max and blah blah blah, but the name reminds me of a mean witchy old woman spying on the neighbors with binoculars and chasing kids off her grass with a broom.
And it also sounds like medicine, like the Bactine disinfectant spray that burned like fire when you sprayed a skinned knee with it.
And I hate the name Max for a boy, and for a dog or cat.

What’s wrong with Maxine? It’s okay for a name to not be to your taste, but I can’t think of anything objectively bad about it.
