Perfectly normal in Spanish, but never really acclimatised to English-speaking places. Used sometimes in Afrikaans, as is Fernanda; my guess is that it's a tradition that started when the Netherlands was still governed from Spain.

I thought it was usually Fernando in Spanish.
It is. In Afrikaans, I've only seen Ferdinand.
