[Opinions] Re: Marie, Marie, Marie - all of the Marie-combos that ever made the French top 100
in reply to a message by Amandine
A lot of those made the top 100 in Quebec as well (including Marie-Claire, Marie-Claude, Marie-Pierre, Marie-Helene, which are my favorites), though not always written with a hyphen...I don't know about France, but these are some more that made top 100 in Quebec in the 80s and 90s...
Marie Eve
Marie Andree
Marie Michele
Marie Soleil
Marilou
I like Marie Soleil, of those, despite not liking Soleil much by itself.
Hyphenated names including Rose seem the trend in Quebec now. Emma-Rose, Lily-Rose, Lea-Rose...
Marie-Ange comes to mind as a popular Marie double name, although it seems like it never broke into the top 100.

We sure do love to pair Marie with everything. In Quebec, I have also known some women called Marie-Chantal, Marie-Julie, Marie-Annick, Marie-Kim, Marie-Denise and even Marie-Philippe (think of Marie-Philip Poulin) and Marie-Mai (the famous singer Québec singer, it's her given name at birth).
Edited to add: Marie-Soleil was indeed quite popular in the 80s and 90s in Quebec, but strangely in French it is the only instance the name Soleil is used. It's an oddity to use it alone, on it's own. It's always paired with Marie. Maybe to follow this trend, I have seen the very original Marie-Lune also used once.

I associate Marie-Soleil with Marisol. I guess maybe it'd also be connected to Marie-Solange, Marie-Soline, Marie-Selene.
