Lately, I've really been likeing Jean. It's simple and familiar, but not being used much at all (hasn't ranked in the top 1000 for girls since 1994, in US). But, it still manages to fit in with names like Emma, since it used to be popular when they were popular the first time. All and all, its just very appealing to me.

So... wdyt of it?

Also, what about the combo Jean Afton? Any other combos you can cook up for me (if you need an idea of my taste, my name list is in my profile?

As a teen, Jean Elizabeth was going to be my second dd (after Mairead Cathleen). I wanted to call her Jeanie.

I too love Jean's sweet simplicity. Also, the fact that it is an underappreciated gem adds to its charm.

I much prefer Joan. Jean, while fine in theory, has just never appealed to me sound-wise.

I like Joan as well. Right now, I like Jean a bit better than Joan, but they are both cool. Joan has a lot of backbone to it. It's always struck me as a very strong name.

There's nothing wrong with it, but I find it incredibly and painfully ugly, sorry, as well as very frumpy.

I think it is pronounced the same, although we call my friend of that name "Jeannie"

I dont think jean is a very good 1st name, but a terrific middl name. You could do something such as- Taryn Jean, Diana Jean, Cassandra Jean.

Jean is the name I am always called by. It's my middle name (my first name is Kathryn) but as the Kathryn was after an Aunt who lived very near us, Jean was thought to be best. i've always liked both my names. wouldn't change them.

Jean's gorgeous, isn't it? It's short and sweet but with some snap--aided by songs like "Blue Jean" and "Jean Genie," of course. And Jeanie is adorable and would fit in easily with Emma and Julia.

I'm horribly biased towards it, though, because I call my sister Jean and Jeanie more often than I call her Sara at this point. ^^; I think it's absolutely lovely.

Jean Afton appeals to me, and Jean River. Jean Eustacia, Jean Cecilia, Jean Veronica, Jean Viorica, Jean Beatrice, Jean Adamina, Jean Arcadia, Jean Arcadee (my personal preference slipping in, heh), Jean Matilda?

And I have a horrible weakness for Jean Ann as a double name, but I'm pretty alone in that. ;)

I like Jean but perfer it as a mn. It is mt great grandmothers name. I think it would sound very nice and refreshing though as a fn.

I don't really like Jean Afton. The names just don't go well together. I think you need a 3 or more syllable mn.

Thanks. I am forced to admit that Jean Catherine has a nice flow, though I prefer combos with a bit more spice. I like Jean Helena and Jean Amelia. :-)

Jean Elspeth is really pretty, and Jean Chrysanta (which is really different! I've never heard of it). I like Veronica, Matilda, Alessandra, Cecelia, Violet, and Arcadia, but not with Jean. Thanks for the combos!

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never been a big fan of double middle names, its just not my thing. I like Jean Matilda, though, and I must admit, the combo as-is has nice flow.
