Given the time depth of Greek, it is a natural phenomenon: Names from Ancient Greek follow a different transcription tradition and also pronunciation than Modern Greek ones. This leads to duplicates for many Greek names (and even more variants, when one throws in other target languages like French, German, Italian, and Spanish). I agree that the coverage of Modern Greek on this site has room for improvement, feel free to submit Modern Greek names here. The Meaning and History section can look like "Modern Greek form of [Ancient Greek name]".
