I can't really picture Sloan on a boy / man, but on a girl / woman it's what I call a "powersuit name." RoxStar below gave an unfavorable review of Sloane when she said it belonged on Dynasty, but while I like Sloane more than she does... she's not wrong about the impression.
Sloane isn't a pretty name, but it's for parents who aren't after a "pretty" name. It's in the same league as Veronica, Adrienne, Sheridan, Meredith, Rachel, Gretchen, and Claudia. Powersuit names.
