I like it okay. It's cool. It seems happy, but in a calm way, and not prissy.
I feel slightly skeptical of the etymology. For no reason - just a feeling that it seems unlikely, that it was invented based on Earth... it seems like it might have been one of those things where a name was meant to be something else, but it got written down as
Eartha. I dunno, I'm just speculating.
I understand why many people don't like the sound ... but I feel like the Ur- sound is soft and pleasant, unlike Bur- as in
Bertha (American accent). I also like
Ursula.
Eartha reminds me more of
Samantha, somehow, than it does of
Martha.
I can picture it on a kid or an adult easily, although it's rare enough that it'd surprise me either way. It could seem "hippie."
I'd be surprised by it on a kid also just because it seems pretty antique. About as surprising as a kid named
Ursula, not as surprising as
Bertha.
I dunno about middle names.
