[Opinions] Coraline
I know that Coraline is ordinarily associated with the scary children's book/movie, but what is your opinion of it? What person would you imagine having it? Is it too "severe"?
This name occasionally lingers in my consciousness in part because as a teenager I had a horrible illness one week, leading to an intense and vivid fever dream on night in which I was on the run from the law like The Fugitive for false claims with a partner and our daughter, a little platinum blonde girl between 3-4 named Coraline that we called "Cori" for short. I do not like Cory for a girl and didn't than either but even though it was a scary dream I loved my little "dream baby" who kept wanting to be picked up and cuddled. Probably my most vivid "dream kid" I've ever had lol so Coraline has a soft spot in my heart even though it's kind of "intense". In the present I may be more tempted to use Cora over Cori as a NN though.
Please rate my "Names I would Use" list & "Backup Favorites" list. Feel free to rate some of my other lists too if you have the time.

Yes anything that sounds like something commonplace tends to me confusing I think lol I do like it though. I think of Autumn too for it
It's so gorgeous. ❤❤
It’s okay, I prefer Coralie
I'm not familiar with the book or movie. I actually envision an old woman. I prefer just plain ol' Cora.
It sounds a bit childish to me, I prefer Coral.
Interesting take, I would have thought a lot of things but childish wasn't in the lineup lol
It's ok, much prefer Caroline or Coralie
I love the name Cora and my hypothetical child’s last name would start with an A so I’m concerned about the awkwardness of the shift between first and last name. For that reason I’ve considered coraline or coralie. I prefer coraline over coralie… I also haven’t read the book or seen the movie so I don’t have the association.
I really like it, and I can imagine it on a real person - it enjoyed of great popularity in France in the 90's.
Sounds cute on a baby, and Coralie and Coral are great alternatives if you think this name is too associated with the character, which is not my case; however, I only like it pronounced KAWR-a-leen.
I never had dreams where I named a kid. Those seem entertaining, since names can be very whimsical, e.g. Sapphira, Draco or Vesper.
