Background info:
Alejandro and I live in
Eugene, Oregon.
Alejandro is a very sucessful financial advisor, which basically means he takes other people money and invests it for them. I,
Sophia, am a rather sucessful novelist/stay at home mom; which basically means I write to keep myself sane and then sell my books when they are finnished. We live on a moderately big farm with no animals except for
River the Rat and
Silver the dog (which is probably is half wolf but very tame though protective).
Alejandro,
Alex,
Gabriel and I were so excited to finally meet our new family!
Isa and
Jules arrived almost a week before
Casey did so I'll start telling you how they settled in first. They are so adorable and so alike! Like two twin china dolls, which is the position
Alejandro,
Alex, and
Gabriel have taken. Three more protective men couldn't be found.
One of the first things I did was take
Isa and
Jules to a jewler and got them each a locket of their choice. Their preferences are remarkably alike, which I suppose is not to surprising;
Isa came away wearing a locket with a red rose and baby's breath, while
Jules got a locket with purple lavender and a butterly. I put a tiny picture of one twin and their older brother in each and made them promise to wear them all the time so we could easier tell them apart.
Getting them into school was relatively easy, which was a relief.
Isa and
Jules ride the same bus as
Alex and
Gabriel and they all eat lunch together. I've often heard
Alex and
Gabriel tell both of them that if anyone at the school is bothering them to tell them (
Gabriel and
Alex) so they can do something about it. It is rather hilarious but having grown up around their father who is a certified old-fashioned kind of man (he was born and raised in Spain by his grandmother) it is hardly unexpected.
Isa and
Jules were rather shy at first and leaned heavily on their bond to get through moving to a foreign country and living with relative strangers. However before long they were part of the family. We got them into both ballet and ice skating lessons accordingly and I decided while watching
Isa that I wanted to take try Ice Skating too. Though I am not half as good as
Isa both
Isa and
Jules (who can also ice skate, better then me but worse then
Isa) love trying to teach me.
It wasn't long before their personalities began showing themselves.
Isa is the mischievous, adventurous, outspoken one, while
Jules is the quieter, studious, shier one.
After a week after
Isa and
Jules arrived
Casey came.
Casey was immediately welcomed by all the men with open arms and comments about the men being over run by all the women.... I Don't know what that was all about but
Casey settled in immediately.
Casey loves to play sports and
Alejandro is only too happy to go along.
Isa and
Jules took to
Casey as soon as he arrived, but not as much as he was taken with them. He walked in, saw them and I thought his jaw would hit the floor, but them those cute twins have that effect on most people, I hardly am looking foreward to with they are old enough that men will start looking at them. Needlass to say
Casey is diffently with
Alejandro,
Alex and
Gabriel on the fact that
Isa and
Jules need protection.
Casey always seemed to view me wary which I'll admit kind of hurt in the beginning but I had to realize that with his own mother giving him away he would be wary of me. One evening when we were all sitting around,
Alejandro reading some stock market reports,
Jules and
Alex still working on their homework,
Isa quitely reading with
Gabriel in the corner and
Casey re-reading a the lord of the rings, I asked
Casey if he wouldn't mind reading the book aloud. I hadn't read the lord of therings since I was ten and loved listening to the slight burr in his voice.
Casey looked at me for a second then nodded and flipped back to the beginning. Ever since reading a little in the evening has become a tradition, and
Casey did start loosening up around me.
Finally
Sebastien,
Isa and
Jules brother came to visit. It wasn't a major holiday, just for the week end to make sure
Isa and
Jules had found a nice home. I and all the males in our family fully understood and respected him for that.
Isa and
Jules were delighted to see him and we spent a wonderful week end getting to know each other. Ever since he comes to our house every time he can get away and has become like a son to us.
Last but not least
Gandalf is estactically happy and so is
Silver. They love playing together and with us living on a farm they have plenty of room.
