Susan is dated but has some charm and pluckiness. Lois is just dated. Like a mid-century modern house vs. a split level.
In real life I would go with Susan Margaret (an honoring name), but in my head I'd pair it with something more exotic and exciting. Maybe Susan Esmeralda.
