1. a D name. Ramona Desiree Surname, Ramona Diana Surname, Ramona Demetra Surname, Ramona Daniela Surname, Ramona Dorothy Surname.
2. I think Romy sounds terrible.
3. Just the Cleary books, and I don't think that's a very bad association. The character Ramona was kind of a dirty humble child but still lovable, IIRC. It'd be no worse than being named Matilda IMO.
4. I like the name Ramona. It's kind of retro, but was never so popular that it would seem dated. But I would nickname her Ray, or even Moe or Rem or Rona, before Romy. I don't like Mona either but I don't think Romy is a good nickname for Ramona. There's no roam sound, and "Romy" is sort of precious and trendy so it's too artificial. I think they should name her Romana or Rosemary if they want to call her Romy.
