As previously mention, it seems to be the name of a plant, derived from the French surname Aubriet, from Aubry (
Aubrey).
Dahlia and
Linnea have similar etymologies.
As a given name, it could also be seen a feminization of
Aubrey, using the feminine suffix -
Etta. Similar to Aubrielle and Aubriella.
