[Opinions] Re: WDYTO Guillaume
I LOVE Guillaume. It's one of my favorite French names and a name I would consider using if I could get away with it (but I can't).
I don't know how hard it is for someone who doesn't know French to figure out how to pronounce it. The sound is simple, I guess spelling it is more difficult than actually saying it.

but she wants to be sure 'cause you know sometimes words have two meanings

I know how to pronounce it, but that's only because I took French in high school, and in French class we were given the French forms of our names, if such existed, to go by in that class. Mine was a different pronunciation, je-NEES instead of JAN-is. Anyway, there were Williams in the classes who were called Guillaume in the class. For an American, at least, with absolutely no background in French, it would be nearly impossible to know intuitively how to pronounce Guillaume. There are scores of foreign names that I don't how to pronounce. I don't see why knowing how to pronounce foreign names would naturally be expected. When I was in Germany for two weeks, most Germans were totally baffled by my name.
