[Opinions] Lashay
This was the name of the cashier who rang me up the other day. She looked to be in her early 20's, and surprisingly, I didn't hate her name. It seemed to suit her.

Sounds stereotypically black to me.
It's pleasant if you say it out loud. The look of it disagrees with me a little, because of the word lash. Looks like it rhymes with sashay, but I think it would be nicer if it were lah-shay.
I prefer Shay. I don't particularly care for Lashay, but there are far worse names out there. Lashay isn't that far off from Renee, Janae, etc., so it has a bit of a familiar feel.
I still don't like the name as to me it's last name or middle name material only.
It reminds me of Nick and Drew Lashey of 98 Degrees, but since she's in her 20's, she would have been born before the boy band started. It does sound like a stereotypical African American name, but it isn't the worst name out there.
Sorry, but it sounds kind of ghetto to me. No offense to anyone.
I don't find it gross, but there's nothing there to attract me either. It's just the tryndee Shay sound stuck together with the once-trendy La sound, like Latanya or Lakisha.
It sounds made-up and I don't like the prefix La, in this case.
Somehow, it sounds like a trendy name that's popular for about six months among a very select group of people and then just disappears.

I don't like it. I'd prefer just Shay/Shaye/Shea. I have to say, it sounds a lot better when said aloud than it looks. It looks ugly written out like that, but I probably wouldn't dislike it so much if my main exposure to it was from hearing it being spoken.
