I've always liked
Holly. A few years ago after reading a book series that had an awesome character named
Molly I've come to really like the name
Molly as well. I will never like the name
Polly, most of my life my next door neighbor was named
Polly and she was the most b1tchy two-faced passive aggressive person I've ever known and her husband
Eric was the sweetest kindest gentlest person I've ever know. He battled his cancer for more than half of his life before he died, then finally
Polly stopped being as mean, she apologized to us before she moved, I think she must have been such a nasty person as a coping mechanism but it was just so weird to me at the time.
Anyway I've gone off track, I think
Holly is a great name no matter what season the person is born, it is not a seasonal plant, it is a year long living plant. I associate it as much with the pagan belief of it having protective power as I associate it with
Christmas and Yule.
In conclusion I love the name
Holly, it is a great name. Actually it is one of the few female H names that I really like, my favorite is
Hazel. In order the female H names I like are:
Hazel,
Honora,
Holly,
Heather, Heliodora,
Henrietta,
Harriett,
Hyacinth, and
Hestia.
Hermione,
Hortensia,
Helena, and
Heleen are also okay. I love
Hettie as a nn for
Henrietta, it's the bee's knees! I don't care for just about every other female H name.
