WDYT of the name Harvey?
It's a family name for me, my great-grandfather's name, as well as my great-uncle's name (who named his daughter Harva).
I doubt that I would use it, but it's been on my mind lately. Any opinions? Any negative or positive associations?

I don't mind it for boys, but when people use on it girls I think it's tasteless.
It's the name of a town just outside the city I live in, so as long as I'm here that's the association I'm going to have with it. It's a pretty neutral one.

I prefer it spelt Harvie. The name is not my style - I just don't like the "arve" sound but it's quite underused which is good.

I like it. Harvey of Sabrina the Teenage Witch was cute, if dumb. And you could dress him up as Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law (at least while he was little).

This is one where there's a huge difference between the USA and the UK at the moment. Harvey was the 27th most common boys' name in England & Wales in 2005, having risen from 61st place in 2001. It is still seriously out of style in the USA. But its popularity in the UK may be leading up to its becoming one of those "names that are so dorky they suddenly shift over into cool" within the next decade or so in the USA as well.

Sooo many people pop into my head when I hear the name 'Harvey' ... but they're all fictional characters because I've never once met a Harvey in real life!

It's a nice name imo. Not one that I would use but I don't see it often. I think it would be a nice alternative to overused names.
