[Facts] Anaïs - from Anaitis?

I have a somewhat scholarly name book (
Llewellyn
's Complete Book of Names by K. M.
Sheard
) that claims Anaïs is a French form of
Anaitis
, the Hellenised form of
Anahita
. Is there any truth behind this? Behind the Name says Anaïs derives from
Anna
.

Most probably
Anais
is derived from
Anaitis
. If from
Anna
, so let prove what is the ending -is and why N is not geminated.
