I think it's really goofy on a boy, but I don't mind it with the nn Sid. Only spelled Sidney on a boy, though. I don't like it on a boy, but wouldn't mind meeting one, it's not horrible or anything.
I like Sidney on a girl, without the nn Sid. It just looks better spelled like this.

It's very 90s dated, but getting less and less common and will probably be out of the top 100 in 5 years.
