[Opinions] Jason
I'm wondering what everyone thinks of Jason and when do you think that it will be popular again?

I think it's funny how it was ahead of its time. Now we have Mason and Jaden ... probably used by people who would've used Jason when it was "fresh." Right now it's dated ... it was as common as Chris and Mike among my peers in grade school, no exaggeration, and I have only met one Jason that I even sort of liked. Weird. It has never really appealed to me. To me it is sort of unmasculine-sounding, like Jeremy and Joshua are. Not that it would suit a female - just that it doesn't reach my "butch enough" mark.I doubt it will become very popular again before another 60-70 years passes. But it seems like it would be steadily, quietly used.

I agree with the link you made to Mason and Jaden, I imagine in about 40 years people will have a distaste for Mason, Jaden, Aidan, etc. as many have for Jason now. I'm one of the people that really dislikes the name and has always disliked it. I think of myself being about 8 years old and many of the older boys having that name, which makes sense since they were 70s kids.

Personally, I dislike it. It seems very 80s to me and I'm just not a fan of the sounds. It also seems kind of generic. I still meet little boys named Jason, so I wouldn't say it's totally unpopular just yet, even if it's not close to the popularity it had in decades past.

I completely agree.

I love Jason!
I know most people on this board are from English-speaking countries and find it boring and dated, but I've never met one in real life, so it's still interesting to me. Justin and Jason would be in my top 5 if I could use them (pronunciation/spelling issues in Croatian unfortunately).
I just checked and Jason is #71 in the US, so it's still fairly common.

Isn't it still fairly common? I don't feel like checking. But anyway, I never used to like it much, it was pretty common in my age group and for a bit older people, so it was boring to me. But I met a boy named Jason who was probably 4 at the time (I think he's like 12 now), and it changed my opinion of it. I think it's a nice name now.

I like it. It's a nice simple handsome name with a great origin. I just found a will for a Jason dated 1494, so I'd also say it was probably a classic. I'm not sure it will ever be as popular again as it was in the 60s, 70s & 80s, but it's still at #161 here and I think it's totally usable.

I know three Jasons. The first is 7, the second is 24 and the third is about 37.Honestly, I despise the name and pray it never makes a comeback.

I have two cousins named Jason; one is on my mother's side, the other on my father's. They're both in their late 30's.I like the name fine. I hope it becomes popular again, because I think it's nice.
