I've never liked
Angus. It either reminded me of beef or of the word 'anus.' Apparently, I'm not the only one. I met a woman about a year ago with two grandsons. The first was two years old and the younger son was named
Angus. The two-year old couldn't say
Angus and so the baby ended up being called, you guessed it, Anus. This obviously bothered the grandmother and she told me she hoped the older brother would eventually learn to pronounce
Angus properly. Now I'm not saying someone named
Angus would be constantly teased, but the potential IS there.
Mainly,
Angus doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. It's not that it's too butch. Having said all this, I do think
Angus is a name that must be grown into. A man could definitely wear it better than a small child, that's for sure.
As an aside, I love the name
Duncan and it's a family name for me, however, my dh can't stand it and says it reminds him of
Duncan Heinz and Dunkin Donuts. Again, more teasing potential. A shame.
