[Opinions] Adele
My SO and I both like Adele (yay!). We have pretty divergent tastes, so this is a great find.I'm curious to see how others respond to the name. Do you like it? What sort of personality would an "Adele" have? What sort of names would you pair it with? (We're putting it on our short list of first names). Last name will be Germanic, two syllables, and begin with a G.

...I didn't use to care for it because I could only think "old lady" but now, when I hear the name, I see a school-aged girl. I imagine her to be a voracious reader, intellectual but not "nerdy" or "backward"...just wise beyond her years, with a sweet disposition, lots of friends, and an inclination to be a helper.Adele Sophia (long "i" sound)
Adele Fiona
Adele Felicity
Adele Cordelia
Adele Alexandra
Adele Marigold
Adele Gwendolen
Adele Tallulah
Adele Julia

Adele Felicity and Adele Cordelia are really sweet names. They really seem to fit with the feel of Adele to me.

Love!I think of Adele as a serene, poetic name. I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I love most Ad- names, though (Ada, Adeline, Adelaide etc.)

While I prefer Adelina or Adela, I think Adele is nice. There's nothing wrong with it. I've never known one. A friend of mine growing up had it as her mn (Elizabeth Adele). Funny, her parents never could remember if they spelled it Adele or Adelle! I'm glad they spelled it the "proper" way, Adele. ;-)Another observation, while on another name forum several years ago, Adele came up a time or two. One of the regulars mentioned several times that it was ripe for teasing with -- a farmer in Adele (rather than a farmer in the dell). I remember thinking, seriously? Who is going to come up with that one? I just wanted you to know that possibility is always there. I guess it's true that any name can be be made fun of if given enough thought.Re: personality, I can't come up with one. Adele is a blank slate. She could be anyone. Re: mn, I'd pair it with a three or four-syllable mn since the surname also has two syllables.

I LOVE Adele! It's so gorgeous! (: Sounds like it'll fit pretty well with your surname as well. I think an Adele would be pretty spunky and sassy, but I also think that they would be really sweet and thoughtful. That being said, however, I also think that Adele will be able to make their own personality and not be "defined".Here you go:Adele Rosamund

This is my cousin's name. She is one of the most anazing people I know. Naturally I love the name and when I hear it all I can think of her. She's really sporty, extremely intelligent, and just a big goofball. I'll post MNs later. (her's is Joyce, it's a family name)

I reminds me of those little penguins so, I guess it's alright.Well, the one in Jane Eyre was really energetic, but not very bright. I'd pair something simple, but elegant. Possibly ending in an "a" ?

It's pretty. I vastly prefer Adeline (pronounced like line, not leen/lyn).
