I think Sapphira is nice and I pronounce it as you do but, funny enough, I would have phoneticized it as suh-FEER-uh. Your suh-FEAR-uh just made me consider her dark side. ;) I'm not one who feels gem-related names are tacky/trashy/stripperish (for the most part) and this one doesn't even hint at that for me. This is the spelling I prefer, especially because of the gem association.
