[Opinions] Mae
Yes, I consider them very different. I love Mae but I hate May. Why? Not sure but I think Mae looks more classic, traditional & wholesome. I know May is not a trendy spelling but a 'y' looks trendy to me in many names. So I try to stay away from it unless it is part of the common/correct/traditional spelling of a name. Examples: Sibyl and Emily need their 'y's.
