Have you seen the
Adam Sandler movie, "I Now Pronounce You
Chuck"?
Phineas was the name of
Dan Akroyd's character, the sergeant or captain of the fire station.
I used to think this was too much of a Hollywood trend name due to
Julie Roberts. But seeing it on
Dan Akroyd made it seem more usable to me, which might come across as ironic since the name was still being used in Hollywood and not even on a real person at that. However, I have never seen
Julia Robert’s son, and when I heard she named her son
Phineas my first reaction was that it was just another lame attempt by some self-absorbed Hollywood actress to be “different.“ But seeing
Phineas on
Dan Akroyd put a face to the name, if that makes any sense at all. In any event, I'm growing to like it too.
