Dislike it on a girl. It sounds very masculine to me.
On a boy... maybe. I like Cyrus, so it's not too much of a stretch; and I would tolerate Cedar, and it's a tree. So, yes I think Cypress would be ok.

Cypress Dawson
I think it should be paired with a more traditional name.
