Jareth just sounds like Jared with a lisp to me. (I'd love Gareth, though. That would be a whole other story.)
I wish I liked Jared as much as I used to. Where I live, Jared is a jewelry store, and they have the most aggravating commercials. They've ruined the name for me.

Gareth is one of my very favourites, but I don't find Jareth quite as appealing. I would probably take Jared; it looks a little stronger than Jareth.
