I'm wondering if it would be possible for someone to give a little Irish "lesson" so someone like me can learn how to pronounce all of these beautiful names?!
For example, what sound does "mha" make when put together? Things like that.
How is this name pronounced? Rúadhnait
Would it be possible for someone to go down the list of some of the more "confusing" spellings and spell it out how it's pronounced?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but...
I think this is how you pronounce some of these names. I'm trying to learn Irish Gaelic so...
"mh" is pronounced like the English 'v'
"ao" like 'ee'
"ia and ai" like 'ee'
"dh" like 'y' (as in Toirdhealbhach pronounced tor-YEL-uv-akh)
"thne" like "nya" (as in Eithne, pronounced EN-ya or sometimes closer to Edna)
"nait" like "nat"
"gh" is silent or occasionally like a hard "g"
"eo" like "Yo or O"
"ch" like "k"
"se" like "sh"
"ea" like a long "a"
"uar" like "or"
Saraid and Maraid are pronounced SAW-rid and MAW-rid
Iarfhlaith is prnounced Ear-lie
Hope this helps. I'm pretty sure this is how everything is pronounced, but I may be incorrect. I am still learning!
