[Opinions] How would you pronounce MARIUS?
Hi there!
Just wanted to ask you something. How would you pronounce the name MARIUS and where do you live?
I'm asking, cuz I want to know if the name is pronounced differently in different countries or parts of the US...
edit: the correct Latin pronounciation would be "Mah-ree-ous" and that's how the Germans pronounce it (we live in Germany) so I was just wondering how you would pronounce it.
Thanks for now!

Either Latin mah-ree-oos, or French mah-ryuys...
Mare-ee-us
MARE-ee-us in an English context, MAHR-ee-us in any other. Either makes sense to me depending, again, on context.
I've always said it MARE-ee-us, or MARRY-us when I say it quickly. I have no idea it that's right or not. I guess I could see saying it MAR-ee-us, too.
mar-ee-us
I'm from the USA and I pronounce it MA-ree-us (Mary + us). I could pronounce it MAH-ree-oos if I was told the person pronounced their named that way.
The famous British actor Marius Goring was marry-uhs.

I live in Midwest USA. I pronounce it Mare-ee-us, although that's because the only place I've heard it pronounce is in Les Mis.
I like the name!
I like the name!
I prn it as they do in Les Miserables
That is, Mah-ree-ous, which is the "correct Latin."

I pronounce it like "Mah-ree-ous"
I'm in Texas, and I'd pronounce it MAIR-ee-us. The only Marius I've known was a MA-ree-oos, though, so I'm flexible about this name.
I'd pronounce it differently depending on the country that I'm in / where the person is from, but in the UK (where I'm from): MA-ree-us
Short A, so pretty much "marry us" run together. :)
I'm in Britain btw.

Ma-ree-uss
