[Facts] Princip.
What is the origin and meaning of this male first name? I know for sure that I've heard it somewhere, but I can't find it in this database nor on other name etymology sites on the Internet. I did find it mentioned on Kabalarians.com though, but there they don't tell you the name's meaning and origin. :(I have a vague suspicion that it's an Slavic or Eastern European name; could I be right?Thank you very much in advance for your answer(s)! :-DGreetings,Lucille

It doesn't sound Slavic or Eastern European to me

Well, there's always...Gavrilo Princip, but who'd wnat to make a first name from the surname of the man who essentially started World War I?(Actually, that was s'posed to be Trifko Grabesh, but the Archduke's chauffeur had a lousy sense of direction.)

Perhaps it's related to the word "prince".PRINCE m English
Pronounced: PRINTS
From a nickname which was derived from the royal title, which comes ultimately from Latin princeps. That's just a guess though.Miranda

I know that principe (with an e) is the Spanish word for prince. Principe is also an island in the Gulf of Guinea.
