[Facts] Irish name Brígh - anyone in the UK/Ireland - is this name legit?
I found the name Brígh here on Behind the Name. Supposedly based on the Irish or Scottish Gaelic word brígh, means 'power' and is pronounced as Bree.
I am absolutely taken with this name but would like to know if it's legit and used at all in Ireland or Scotland...? If anyone could tell me I'd appreciate it!

In Scotland I have never met or heard of anyone named Brígh, Bree or Brie. Actually I suspect Bree and Brie are American inventions, perhaps Irish inspired. I do know a woman named Breege, which could conceivably be Anglicised from Brigh but I think it's more likely connected to Brigid.
Certainly the (Irish Gaelic) meaning given on this site for Brígh is correct, because I know the Scottish Gaelic brìgh has roughly the same meaning.

I agree
Technically legit, but not used in Ireland.

That's kind of what I thought... thanks!
