[Opinions] nickname for "Lavender"
Hey, I tried this on a different message board and was recommended to try it here instead. So, does anyone here know a good nickname for the name "Lavender"? It's a beautiful name but also a little ungainly. I've gotten suggestions to use "Lave" or "Lav", which are fine, but I was wondering if there are any others I might use. Thanks so much!~Heather

I like Lavender.Lavender nn? Depends how far you want to stretch it.What about: Val (Lav backwards), Ven, Vennie/Venny, Vena or Venka? Deri? Too close to Terri?nn can derive themselves really - it's like a girl called Jayne that I know who gets Jaynis. You never know what will catch on.

Thanks so much, everyone! It IS a hard name to come up with nicknames for, and I really appreciate your thoughts. I'll definitely find something I like somewhere in all your suggestions. Thanks especially to Nikida and Integrity who reminded me that the nickname doesn't have to be derived from the actual name. Thanks a ton! ~heather

Vendy?Or is this too close to Wendy?"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

'Lav' isn't really fine if she ever comes to Britain. A 'lav' is a toilet here.I think Lavender is nice though. I prefer it without a nickname, since I can't think of any attractive ones. Perhaps 'Landy' could work._____________________________________________________________________Elinor"Well-behaved women rarely make history."

I like Lavender, but don't use Lav as a nickname, it's also short for "lavatory," as in "toilet." I like the suggestions of Lala or Lallie.

The first thought that came to mind was Lala. I'm not sure why because it's nothing that I would normally say for a nickname. But my neice Emma is going to be 2 at the end of the month and she has a newborn sister who is 3 weeks old that she calls Lala. Her name is Natalie but she gets excited and it just slips and comes out Lala. Now that I have totally gotten off subject here....I would say just use that or Ava sounded good from another suggestion...just anything. Nicknames could even be something that has nothing to do with a name.
