Magnus is the name of my Great-great-uncle, so I like it. He was from Norway (not that it matters, but I just thought I'd add that).
When I say Agnes, I sound like I have a cold, so I don't really like it. :-(
Strangely, the name Ingrid reminds me of shrimp. I can't say if that's good or bad. I don't think I would use it, though.
Gilbert, nn Gil, is one of my favorite names. Not because of Anne. My best friend dragged me kicking and screaming through that book, and I still don't like it.
