I like it, and I don't think it's too old-fashioned. It has interesting history/mythology.

I really like it.

I think Deirdre is a lovely name and even in Ireland it is quite rare which is always a bonus. However the story of Deirdre of the Sorrows would put me off using it.

Its pretty but the meaning and connotations aren't very happy.

I met a little girl named Deirdre at a renaissance fair. She was all dressed in garb and was holding a daisy. I mean, really, she was the cutest thing ever. She gave a little curtsy when I met her. Oh. Melted my heart.

So yeah, I think it's a wonderful name on a child.

I never really cared for the name until I met a girl named Deirdre when I was freshman in high school. I always thought the name was "old" and dated but she really refreshed the name. She was so spunky, put together, charming, fashionable and just a really nice person...her nickname is Dee. I like the name, but I wouldn't use it - I would find a way to use "Dee" though since I really like that. I also like Deidra.

I quite like it. I don't think it's too old fashioned, but my opinion may be shaped by the fact I've only personally met one person named Deirdre and she's the same age as me.
