Never got the appeal of this name.
If you must use it, I would go for Max as a nn. Not the most obvious, but I like it a lot.

you pronounce it differently then me, interesting. I don't get mad dox at all when saying Maddox. I say Mad-dix.

My pronunciation is more like "mad ducks" :)
MADucks. I like it anyway though. I can't defend myself when it comes to liking it, on any grounds, but I like it nevertheless.
