Like a lot of people, I think Max needs a full name, but don't actually *like* any of the full forms. Maxwell is surname-y and pretentious to me. Maximilian is even more pretentious, and poncy to boot. It screams "I'm upper-class" (like Sebastian etc.) and seems very wannabe to me.

The one thing I've come across that's decent is Maxen, a Welsh diminutive. I probably wouldn't use the nn Max for that actually, as I like Maxen in full. Anyhow, it's ojne to think about :-)
