[Games] Yes, Karen, please change your posting name
in reply to a message by karen
It's just plain confusing for the rest of us on the board to have two Karens posting. The Karen who asked you to change your posting name has been here for longer than you have, and it's usual board etiquette for newcomers to sway to the older members when it comes to posting names--a first dibs policy, if you will. (The obvious exception is when the two posters in question agree to something else. The original bearer of the posting name may change his/her name instead of the newcomer, if they want to.) Thus, Karen I is allowed to keep her name, while you have to change yours. It's just polite to do so.And if your attempt at distinguishing yourself is by posting with a capitalised name, it's the wrong way to go about it. Though we have no problem with similar names, differentiating by capitalising isn't a good strategy because many people enter their names manually, and therefore are sometimes inconsistent with capitalising their names.Btw, I will be keeping an eye on you, Karen II. Your repeated, apparently wilful disregard for Karen I's feelings and for proper board etiquette is, quite frankly, rather rude to me.
