The fact that your name is spelt Hough and pronounced Huff suggests that it is English. It is locative, literally means "heel" (Old English, hoh), but identifies a ridge or spur of land. There are places called Hough in Cheshire and Derbyshire.
There is also a Norwegian surname, Høgh, which means "high".
