It's amazing how the same name spelled one way or another can give off different vibes.
Personally, I find Jeanne to be more sophisticated and elegant. Jean is more like a friendly, spunky, girl-next-door type in my mind.
I would pronounce them both as "jeen" unless the person was French or I was informed otherwise. I like Jeanette a little more than both of them.
